METHOD OF ATTACHING A TUBE TO A PLATE

A method is disclosed for attaching a tube to a plate. The plate is formed of a deformable material and has a first and a second surface separated by a thickness thereof. At least one pair of retaining collars are formed on the plate. One of the pair of retaining collars is formed on the first surface of the plate and the second of the pair of retaining collars is formed on the second surface of the plate. The pair of retaining collars are of the same general shape, have a common central axis, and each have a portion extending above the respective surface from which they are formed. The pair of retaining collars are interconnected by an opening and a deformable tube is fitted in a position in the opening between the interconnected pair of retaining collars. The tube is deformed into engagement with the interconnected pair of retaining collars formed on the first and the second surface of the plate thereby to form a joint between the plate and the tube.
