PURPOSE:To produce easily and surely a metallic clad plate by superposing plural sheets of metallic plates, traveling the plates in a furnace and heating directly the plates by heating burners at least from one side thereof then welding the plates by rolling. CONSTITUTION:Two sheets of metallic plates 2, 4 led off from coils 6, 8 are superposed by deflector rolls 12 and are then passed continuously through a heating furnace 10. The superposed plates are directly heated by the direct fires of heating burners from both top and bottom sides thereof by upper and lower burner groups 14, 16 consisting of burner pipes 18. An inert gas or reducing gas is preferably blown from a nozzle 24 to the space between the plates 2, 4 prior to superposition of said plates. The burner holes 20 of the above-mentioned burner pipes 18 in the furnace are arranged in the transverse direction of the plates 2, 4 and are provided in plural stages of zigzag arrangement in the traveling direction to heat quickly the plates 4, 6 and to prevent formation of oxide films at the joint boundary thereof. The plates 2, 4 after heating are passed through rolling rolls 22 disposed in proximity to a heating furnace 1, by which the plates are welded with pressure and a metallic clad plate is obtd. |
