摘要 PURPOSE:To absorb overflowed light charge and to prevent blooming by causing a pumping phenomenon at photodetection parts of either of odd or even fields of a two-dimensional solid-state image pickup element during the photoelectric conversion period of photodetection parts of other fields. CONSTITUTION:Electrodes M1... and M2... are arranged successively on a semiconductor substrate S across an insulating film O so that one side part of each electrode M2 is superposed on a corresponding electrode M1 in an insulation state. A high-density area S is formed on the surface of the substrate S at the gap position between the electrodes M1 and M2. A stopper D sections and separates channel parts C provided successively. A pumping phenomenon is caused at the photodetection part a'' of an even field during the photoelectric conversion period of an odd field photodetection part a' and at the photodetection part a' during the photoelectric conversion period of the photodetection part a''. Thus, a light charge overflowed during the photoelectric conversion period of one field photodetection part is absorbed by the pumping phenomenon of the other field photodetection part to remove blooming.
