In a microprocessor-controlled video recorder, the numeric keypad already existing for controlling operating functions is additionally used for inputting code numbers in order to trigger special functions which do not belong to the normal operating sequence but which are utilised by a certain circle of people who are familiar with the meaning of the code numbers.
