PURPOSE:To contrive the replacement of an electrolyte and the contraction of the change in potential, in a reference electrode having liquid junction structures provided by multiple series connection and used in high temp. water, by selecting the number of liquid layers corresponding to a use time and a heat cycle. CONSTITUTION:A Teflon tube 2 insulates a silver electrode 1 from a test solution 13 and an upper lid 4 clamps the electrode 1 to bellows 7 made of Teflon through Teflon beads 3 so as not to leak an electrolyte 6. Silver chloride 5 immersed in the electrolyte 6 is adhered to the leading end of the electrode 1 and the electrolyte 6 of the bellows 7 is communicated with the electrolyte 6 of bellows 8 through a liquid junction 10 so as to provide definite communication resistance and also similarly communicated with bellows 9. In this case, potential change increases with a heat cycle and a use time, and decreases by the conversion of a liquid junction system to a multi-layered structure. By this mechanism, the number of bellows layers are increased corresponding to necessity and the change in potential can be reduced. |
