PURPOSE:To facilitate fitting and detaching a casing, by a construction wherein a transfer material is guided by the second guide instead of the first guide when a transfer material containing casing is fitted to a main body of a device, in a thermal transfer printer. CONSTITUTION:When a ribbon cassette 30 is fitted to the main body of the device, a thermal transfer ribbon 13 is guided by a ribbon guide shaft part 44 provided on the side of the main body, and when the cassette 30 is detached, the ribbon 13 is guided by a ribbon guide part 45 of the cassette 30. The guide part 45 is formed in an arcuate cross-sectional shape by cutting away a part of a cylindrical body. When the cassette 30 is fitted, the guide part 45 is located on the side of the inner peripheral surface of the ribbon guide shaft part 44 by a knob 46, and when the cassette 30 is detached, the guide part 45 is turned to the side of the outer peripheral surface to guide the ribbon 13. Accordingly, the cassette can be easily fitted and detached, the accuracy in feeding the transfer material is enhanced, and image quality can be enhanced. |
