PURPOSE:To prevent sticking of scale by providing a temperature control thermostat in a cooling water passage for sea water discharging and also providing a change-over (opening and closing) valve in a cooling water passage connected in parallel with the abovementioned cooling water passage, in an outboard engine cooled by sea water. CONSTITUTION:A cooling water jacket 17a is formed on diesel-engine 16 mounted as an outboard engine so as to guide cooling water to flow in the longitudinal direction. Sea water pumped by a sea water pump 28 is supplied into the jacket 17a and discharged from a passage 30 into water after finishing its cooling work. In this time, a main sea water flow out port 17c of the cooling water jacket 17a is connected to a first cooling water passage 32 having a thermostat T1 whose valve opening temperature is set to that higher than normal temperature, e.g. 70 deg.C or so. And an auxiliary sea water flow out port 17d is connected to a second cooling water passage 34 in parallel with the passage 32 and having a change-over valve 36 interposed therein. And the change-over valve 36 is so controlled as being closed at low and opened at high load. |
