A roll stand (3) with roll supporting shafts (2) supported at both ends which can be adjusted to set the roll pass and onto which exchangeable roll rings (8) are mounted at one end (overhung). Both roll supporting shafts (2) have journals (2c) projecting beyond the roll rings (8). Journal bearings (11) can be pushed onto and fixed on these journals (2c) and their bearing housings (9, 10) are connected by the action of force and/or by positive engagement, so as to allow them to take up rolling forces, by actuating elements which can be moved and pressurised parallel to the direction of adjustment of the roll supporting shafts (2). <IMAGE>
