PURPOSE:To obtain a synthetic resin solution capable of giving coating film with high rigidity and good adhesiveness after exposure, by dissolving a specific copolymer resin containing p-methylstyrene as a structural unit in a solvent composition containing at least specified amount of aliphatic and/or alicyclic hydrocarbon. CONSTITUTION:The objective resin solution can be obtained by dissolving (A) a copolymer resin with an average molecular weight 1,000-40,000 and glass transition temperature 0-100 deg.C constituted by (i) 20-80wt% of p-methylstyrene and (ii) 80-20wt% of another copolymerizable monomer (e.g. methyl methacrylate) as structural units, respectively, in (B) a solvent composition containing >=50wt% of an aliphatic and/or alicyclic hydrocarbon (e.g. toluene).
