NEW MATERIAL:The 7beta-carboxyalkenoylamino-3-cephem-4-carboxylic acid of formula I (R is aryl or heterocyclic group; R<1> is H or halogen; R<2> is single bond or S; R<3> is single bond or alkylene; R<4> is H or methoxy; R<5> is H or 3-substituted group of cephalosporin compound; X is O, S or sulfinyl) and its derivative. EXAMPLE:7-[2-( 2-Benzyloxycarbonylamino-4-thiazolyl )-3-benzyloxycarbonylmethylacrylamido]-3-pyridinium methyl-3-cephem-4-carboxylate. USE:It exhibits strong antibacterial activity against aerobic and anaerobic bacteria, and is useful for the prevention and remedy of the infectious diseases of man. It has characteristic features in the antibacterial activity against Gram- negative bacteria, high absorptivity, secretion and distribution properties, etc. PREPARATION:The compound of formula I can be prepared e.g. by reacting the compound of formula II with the carboxyalkenoic acid of formula III. |
