PURPOSE:To facilitate cleaning of the interior of a moistening device, by a method wherein a supply port for cleaning pieces, such as chips of wood, chips of plstic, is formed in the vicinity of the fly ash charing port of a casing. CONSTITUTION:A wood chip supply port 7 is located between a fly ash charging port 2 and a moistening nozzle 5 situated on the upper part of a casing 1, and a block of wood 6, nipped by means of a nipper 9 elevatably supported to a stand 8, is interposed in the feed port 7. After fly ash is charged into a fly ash charging port 2 and an ashmoistening work is conducted for a given time, the block of wood 6 are supplied little by little through a feed port 7 into the casing 1. In which case, the block of wood 6 are shaved off by a screw 4 to produce chips and be moved in the direction of an arrow mark A togetherwith fly ash. The chips and the fly ash are collided with a solidified matter, comprising CaSO4 and CaCO3 firmly adhered to the inner periphery of the casing 1 or the screw 4 to exfoliate such matter, which is extruded through a moistened ash discharge port 3 togetherwith moistened ash.
