The invention relates to a device for fastening hollow profiles, in particular tubes with a rectangular cross-section, and in particular when they are used as hand rails and as the upper and lower longitudinal supporting members of parapet grids or bar-grid fence elements between posts and/or walls, by means of retaining screws. In order to achieve simple mounting and protected accommodation of the retaining elements, a coupling piece is used which can be pushed into the tube respectively to be fastened and which, in the largest dimensions of its cross-section, exhibits a mounting part corresponding to the outer dimensions of the tube cross-section and having an end plate to receive the retaining screw and having a mounting opening for retaining screw. The coupling piece also exhibits a bearing part, the largest cross-sectional dimensions of which are designed so as to correspond to the inner dimensions of the tube cross-section.
