<p>PURPOSE:To enable to obtain an electronic typewriter which is easier to use, by a method wherein printing mode is automatically set to a line-by-line mode when a power source is thrown in, in an electronic typewriter comprising a plurality of printing modes. CONSTITUTION:When a power source switch 5P is closed, a CPU1 starts a power-ON initiallizing operation for a RAM3, a character display device 4, a keyboard 5 and a dot printer 6. Margin positions (a), a return mode (b) and a printing mode (c) are set in the RAM3 by the user through the keyboard 5, and the data are held even after the power source is turned OFF, so that the contents of the RAM3 are taken in by the CPU1 at the time of the power-ON initiallizing operation, and each of the modes set immediately before turning OFF the power source is set again. However, the printing mode (c) is forcibly set to the line-by-line mode (wherein is most frequently used) by the CPU1.</p> |
