PURPOSE:To achieve quick and accurate operation by fixing a working electrode and a referential electrode on the movable working head section thereby saving time loss for replacement of electrode while preventing relative positional shift between both electrodes. CONSTITUTION:A working electrode 3 and a referential electrode 4 are fixed on the electrode fixing section 2 of movable working head 1. At the time point when interrupting the work and stopping discharge, the position of working electrode 3 in the coordinates of electric discharge machine is read and recorded. Then the referential electrode 4 is moved to contact the leading edge against the surface of work 5 at the position Z1 to record the values on the coordinates thereafter, the leading edge is further moved to the position Z2 thus to contact against the work 5 and to record the coordinates at this point. Thereafter, the absolute value (a) of the difference of coordinates between said two points is obtained to know the depth woked before interruption. Consequently, the operation of discharge work is facilitated while the accuracy is improved. |
