Apparatus for aligning a solar panel comprising a light tunnel with sides 1,3,5,7 for mounting on the solar panel or its support frame with a closed end 9 of the tunnel in which an aperture 11 is provided so that a beam of sunlight can pass through the tunnel and impinge upon a graduated scale 18 at the other end of the tunnel. The device is so arranged that when it is correctly mounted on a panel and the panel is arranged with its active surface normal to the rays of the sun, the beam of sunlight will impinge upon a centre point of the scale, indicating that the panel should be adjusted for optimum performance. Preferably the tunnel is substantially frusto-triangular in plan with the scale 13 being arranged at one angle the base of the triangle. The panel may be set so that sunlight falls on another scale point, and left so that the bright area moves through the centre to a further point, such that the panel is aligned throughout for sufficient efficiency. <IMAGE>
