PURPOSE:To provide a cosmetic having high oxidation stability, giving refreshing feeling to the skin, and free from oil odor of decomposed components, by using sal fat obtained by the extraction of the seed of sal tree and/or its hydrogenated product as an essential component. CONSTITUTION:The seed of sal tree is crushed and extracted with hexane, and the obtained sal fat and/or its hydrogenated product is used as an essential component of the objective cosmetic. Although sal fat has a triglyceride structure similar to other vegetable oils, it has excellent oxidation stability because the unsaturated fatty acid accounting for 40% of the fat is mostly oleic acid. The saturated fatty acids existing in the fat are palmitic acid, stearic acid and arachic acid, and accordingly, it has advantages in view of stability and odor. Sal fat is solid at normal temperature; however, it melts rapidly on the skin because of its low melting point, i.e. 30-35 deg.C. |
