PURPOSE:To reduce concn. of org. substances in the treated water to below the standard value for extremely pure water by allowing feed water contg. org. substances to contact with a combustion catalyst in the condition of steam in the presence of O2-contg. gas and burning the org. substances in the feed water. CONSTITUTION:Feed water 1 is introduced into a packing bed 2 of an ion exchange resin, and transported to an evaporater 3 after it is desalted, where it is converted again to steam and mixed with air 4. Thereafter, the mixture is introduced into a catalytic combustion device 5 packed with combustion catalyst, and the org. substances are removed by combustion. It is further introduced into a heat exhanger 6 where it is cooled and then separation of gas from water is performed in a water separator 7. By this process of preparation, particles inactive to water, etc. are not evaporated in the evaporator 3 and remain therein, therefore, such particles are separated and removed indirectly.
