PURPOSE:To evaluate the quantity of coupling between modes generated at a fiber connection point by performing evaluation on the basis of light intensity in basic mode and a measured value of light intensity obtained in a step wherein the light intensity in the mixed mode of a basic mode and the 1st high-order mode is measured. CONSTITUTION:A light source 1, condenser lens 2, light source side optical fiber 3, photodetection-side opitcal fiber 4, and photodetecting element are provided. The light intensity in basic mode which is inputted to a connection point and the light intensity in the mixed mode of the basic mode and the 1st high-order mode are measured as shown in a figure (a). Then, the mixed light intensity when light in the mixed mode of the basic mode and the 1st high-order mode is passed through the connection point is measured as shown in a figure (b). Then, the light intensity in the mixed mode of the basic mode and the 1st high-order mode when the light in basic mode is passed through the connection point is measured as shown in a figure (c). Then, the light intensity in basic mode when the light in basic mode is passed through the connection point is measured as shown by (d) and the light intensity when the light in the mixed mode of the basic mode and the 1st order mode is passed through the connection point is measured as shown by (e). |
