MANUFACTURE OF LITHIUM ALUMINATE

PURPOSE:To easily produce lithium aluminate for matrix material which is minute and has a high specific surface area by heating mixture of lithium nitrate and aluminum nitrate hydrate. CONSTITUTION:Aluminum nitrate hydrate Al(NO3)3.9H2O and lithium nitrate LiNO3 are mixed to produce a liquid mixture. The mixture is heated above 550 deg.C, preferably at 550-750 deg.C to obtain lithium aluminate composed of gamma- LiAlO2. This process is effective to obtain lithium aluminate powder for matrix having good electrolyte holding performance and thermostability.
