PURPOSE:To obtain the most easily crystallizable salt taking advantage of the solubility differences within 4 kinds of salts, by forming a salt of an optically active resolving agent with an acid or a base which is a racemic compound selected as an object to be resolved, and adding a different kind of salt of the above racemic compound to the above salt. CONSTITUTION:A salt of a racemic compound selected as an object to be resolved [e.g. 1-(RS)-7,7-dimethyl-2-oxobicyclo[2,2,1]heptane-1-methanesulfonic acid] and an optically active base [e.g. (R)- or (S)-alpha-aminobenzeneacetic acid] is used s as a solvent, and a different kind of a salt of the above racemic compound (e.g. salt with ammonia) is dissolved in the above salt. The salt of R- or S-isomer can be crystallized by the fractional recrystallization. The exchange of counter ions takes place during the fractional crystallization in the above process, and accordingly, the crystallization ratio of the objective salt can be improved.
