PURPOSE:To provide a small and lightweight serial printer, by a method wherein a recording head ad a xenon lamp are designed so small in width as to print at least 1 or 2 characters ad travel while being loaded on a carriage reciprocating along with a printing line, and characters or images are successively formed according to the motion of the carriage. CONSTITUTION:When an electrical discharge recording head 3 travels in the direction of the arrow while being depressed down against a recording sheet 1, a recording signal 4 is selectively applied to each recording needle 15 and the recording needles 15 make a hole into an aluminum deposition layer 12 by electrical discharge occurred between them. As the result, characters or image patterns (mask image) are formed on the aluminum deposition layer 12 in the recording sheet 1. After that, a presser plate 9 installing a xenon lamp 7 and a reflecting plate 8 moves in the direction of the arrow while depressing down the recording sheet 1 against a recording paper 2. The light which has passed through the hole in the aluminum deposition layer 12 is irradiated to an ink layer 13 through a base film 11, which results in heat fusion of the ink layer 13, thus, the transfer thereof to the pressurized recording paper 2 is completed. |
