PURPOSE:To provide a printer provided with a character pattern output part which selectively outputs two different character patterns, one having a normal character direction and the other having a reverse character direction, and capable of recording characters in a readable direction from each other's opposite direction, in two sheets of paper on a single printing part. CONSTITUTION:For instance, in a printer printing characters in each other's opposite direction dealings in a pass book P and a journal tape J using a printing head 32 at an automatic cash register and other similar devices, a character pattern recording part 54 memorizing two different character patterns, one in a normal character direction and the other in a reverse character direction with regard to numerous characters and a character pattern selection part 53 which selects a normal directional pattern and a reverse directional pattern respectively with a character pattern corresponding to character data transmitted from a printing control part 52 are provided. Thus character patterns corresponding to the character directions of both character patterns are printed on the pass book P and the journal tape J using the printing head 32. |
