PURPOSE:To detect the non-condensed gas easily by a method wherein sampling of vaporized primary cooling agent containing the non-condensed gas is effected from the heat exchanger and the non-condensed gas, obtained by cooling and separating it, is detected by the amount of reaction of a gas absorbing body which makes absorbing reaction with the same gas. CONSTITUTION:In the exhaust valve cooling device for an internal-combustion engine, when a valve head 8 is exposed to a high-temperature atmosphere, a part of the primary cooling agent 5 in the hollow chamber 4 of the exhaust valve main body 1 is vaporized and the internal pressures of the hollow chamber 4, a guide pipe 2, a condensing pipe 11 and the like become higher than an atmospheric pressure, an opening and closing valve 20 is opened by a controller 32, the vapor 6 containing air is introduced into a cooler 19 and the sampling of a predetermined amount is effected. Thereafter, the opening and closing valve 20 is closed, the vapor in the cooler 19 is cooled to separate it from the air while the separated air is then aerated into medical liquid 23 in an reaction tank 22 by the opening of the opening and closing valve 21. Then, the amount of air in the heat exchanger 3 is computed based on the amount of oxygen effected the absorbing reaction with the medical liquid 23 and the opening and closing valve 31 is opened in accordance with the result to extract the air in the heat exchanger 3. |
