In order to prevent the undesirable clogging and encrustation on the writing tips of writing instruments, it is proposed, according to the present invention, that use be made in the writing instrument housing of a solvent-free material which is solid at room temperature and becomes liquid at elevated temperatures, and that a selectively switchable electric heating device be provided in the vicinity of the writing tip.
