PURPOSE:To improve shape controllability and to correct the shapes of not only the end and central parts of a sheet but the local part thereof, by performing the control of the horizontal deflection of a work roll jointly with the control of the movements of upper and lower intermediate rolls in the axial directions, in a multi-high rolling mill. CONSTITUTION:Intermediate rolls 15, 16 are interposed between upper and lower backup rolls 31, 32 and upper and lower work rolls 11, 12 respectively. Further, an one-sided roll crown consisting of a taper or an optional curve is formed at an opposite one-end of each of upper and lower intermediate rolls 15, 16; and each movement of them in the axial direction toward that each one-sided crown part of them contact is made controllable. Then, the shape of a rolling material is controlled by performing the control of the horizontal deflections of work rolls 11, 12 jointly with the control of the movements of upper and lower intermediate rolls 15, 16 in their axial directions. |
