NEW MATERIAL:The imidazole derivative of formula I (R<1> is H, halogen, lower alkyl or lower alkoxy; R<2> is H or lower alkyl; R<3> is alkyl or cycloalkyl) and its acid addition salt. EXAMPLE:1-[3-Chloro-4-(1-imidazolyl)phenyl]ethanol. USE:A drug such as an agent to inhibit the biosynthesis of thromboxane A2, a blood platelet coagulation inhibitor and a vasodilator, and useful for the prevention and remedy of thrombosis, cerabral apoplexy, myocardial infraction, acute cardionecrosis, stenocardia, hypertension, asthma, nephritis, etc. PREPARATION:The compound of formula I can be produced either by (1) reacting the compound of formula II with the compound of formula R<3>MgX (X is halogen) or by (2) reacting the compound of formula III (Y is halogen) with imidazole, or by (3) reducing the compound of formula IV.
