A high-pressure cleaning device has a pump (11), a washing lance (14) and a pressure control device (13) between these parts which are connected to one another in each case via high-pressure lines. When the main switch (18) is switched on, the pressure control device (13) switches on the pump (11) when the monitored pressure drops below a set pressure and when the set pressure is exceeded it switches the pump off again. A timing element (10) is connected to the pressure control device (13) in such a way that when the pump is switched off it is set and when the pump is switched on again it is reset. However, resetting is only possible within a predetermined time period. If this time period is exceeded, the timing element (20) opens the main switch (18) via a timing element relay (23) so that the entire voltage supply is interrupted. By means of this circuit it is ensured that the pump does not start up as a result of a pressure drop brought about by leaks. <IMAGE>
