PURPOSE:To obtain a base body which is adequate for a stationary phase in a chromatography and has good adsorptive activity by forming anodic oxidation films consisting of an Al base metal into specific three layers including a layer having a rugged and porous surface. CONSTITUTION:This base body is formed with an oxide film 2 on an Al or Al alloy base body 1. The film 2 consists successively of a needlelike structure layer 3, a porous layer 4 and a barrier layer 5 from above. The layer 3 has macroholes 3a with the ruggedness on the surface thereof and is formed with numerous microholes 3b communicating therewith in all directions. The holes 3b communicate with the microholes 4a of the layer 4 beneath the same. The base body 1 having such film 2 is obtd. simply by anodizing the base body 1 in a soln. kept at about 20-60 deg.C at a high current density of about 5-60A/dm<2> at which electric discharge is not generated between the base body 1 and the soln. on the surface of the body 1. Sulfuric acid, Cr acid, etc. are used for the soln. and the concn. thereof is preferably about 1.5-5 times the concn. for ordinary anodic oxidation.
