PURPOSE:To obtain tape-shaped optical fibers extremely small in light transmission loss due to an external force, such as bending, by reducing a friction coefft. between the optical fibers and a protective layer to render them slippery to each other. CONSTITUTION:An inside optical fiber 2A is not subjected to compression force, and an outside optical fiber 2B is not subjected to tension by allowing the optical fibers 2 to slide along a protective coat 3. In order to render both slippery to each other, a thermosetting resin composed essentially of dimethylpolysiloxane is used for the protective layers 1 of the fibers 2, and a UV-hardenable resin composed essentially of epoxyacrylate or urethane acrylate, is used for said outer coat 3. The friction coefft. between the optical fibers 2 and the coat 3 is reduced and they are made slippery to each other by spreading a silicone oil or the like on the outer surface of the layer 1. |
