PURPOSE:To improve oxygen gas absorption performance of an anode plate by forming an anode plate by arranging a conductive layer comprising carbon powder on the surface of a paste-like cadmium active material layer having a conductive matrix comprising carbon fibers. CONSTITUTION:Polyethylene fibers, carbon fibers, methyl cellulose, and water are added to a mixture of cadmium oxide powder and metal cadmium powder, and they are kneaded to form paste. The paste is spreaded on the both surfaces of a electrode substrate, and dried, then immersed in a suspension comprising water, acetylene black, and polyvinyl alcohol to form a cadmium electrode plate. Before formation, it is combined with a nickel electrode plate and a separator, and potassium hydroxide solution is added to form a sealed alkaline storage battery. Since a conductive layer comprising carbon powder exists on the surface of active material of the anode plate, oxygen gas absorption performance is increased and hydrogen gas evolution in quick charge is suppressed. |
