PURPOSE:To obtain a titled light transmitting fiber with low transmission loss having excellent heat resistance, mechanical characteristics, and workability by using a polymer consisting essentially of methyl methacrylate as a core component and a resinous component consisting of two kinds of polymers contg. fluorine as a sheath component. CONSTITUTION:(A) 95-10wt% copolymer consisting of 95-35mol% vinylidene fluoride and 5-65mol% tetrafluoroethylene and (B) 5-90wt% fluoroalkyl methacrylate polymer (e.g., 2,2,2-trifluoroethyl methacrylate) are mixed to prepare a resinous composition for the sheath component. And a polymer consisting essentially of methyl methacrylate and contg. 3-40wt% methacrylic ester having a 8-20C alicyclic hydrocarbon group in its ester part (e.g., bornyl methacrylate) is used as a core component to obtain the desired light transmitting fiber by using said resinous composition for the sheath component as a sheath component. |
