PURPOSE:To obtain a roll suitable for rolling a material of high melting point under mass production system by forming a rolling part of roll with a steel consisting of Fe containing specific percentages of Cr, W, and Mo. CONSTITUTION:The rolling part of a roll is formed by a steel consisting of, by wt%, 2.0-7.0% Cr, 3.0-8.0% W, 3.0-8.0% Mo, 0.5-4.0% V, and the balance of Fe with inevitable impurities. Further, <=1.4% C is allowed to be included, at need. The roll is provided with excellent wear-resisting and impact-resisting properties by said alloy composition, and its inner part is made to have toughness by hardening only the surface layer by meane of quenching and annealing. The roll is therefore extremely effective for hot rolling a metal of high melting point such as W, Mo, and a rolling especially by means of three-side rolls contributes to an uniform rolling effect and a high working rate. |
