PURPOSE:To improve the corrosion resistance and high-speed workability by coating a steel sheet with Fe, Ni, Cu or the like by a prescribed amount and by further coating the coated steel sheet with an Ni-Zn alloy or an Fe-Zn alloy under prescribed conditions. CONSTITUTION:The surfaces of a steel sheet are coated with one or more among Fe, Ni, Cu, Sn, Cd and Pb which are nobler than Zn by 1.5-50g/m<2> without forming an intermetallic compound. The resulting underlayers are coated with an Ni-Zn alloy contg. 9-20% Ni or an Fe-Zn alloy contg. 7-40% Fe by 2-80g/m<2> to obtain a double plated steel sheet. This plated steel sheet has superior corrosion resistance and high-speed workability.
