PURPOSE:To prevent occurrence of cracks due to overheat of material to be worked by detecting set indentation during indenting and changing speed of indenting when forming the material by indentation applying current and heating the material by an anvil and a clamp. CONSTITUTION:Oil pressure is applied to a cylinder 7 to push up a piston 14, a sliding member 6 and a push jig 4. At the same time, current is applied from the anvil 2 and clamp 3 to a bar material 1 and heated. The bar material held by the anvil 2 is thrusted in and compressed, and a desired formed product is made by plastic working. Operating position of a limit switch 8 is set to a position before thrusting position at which heating temperature of the formed product becomes highest to bring a dog 9 into contact. When indentation arrives at this position, a solenoid valve 12 is switched by a signal of the limit switch 8, and oil flows from a flow regulating valve 10 to 11 and becomes large flow rate. Accordingly, the speed of indenting becomes large even when heat input becomes large, and therefore, the overheat of the bar material 1 can be prevented.
