Stranding process and apparatus for multi-wire electrical conductors

In order to improve the stranding quality in the production of multi-wire conductors by a double-twist flyer-type stranding machine (6, 10, 11, 12, 13), the stranding flyer (12) is preceded by a guide device (4, 15, 14), by means of which a twist length changing intermittently is imparted to the first or second stranding ply of the conductor. This eliminates the risk that stranding elements of one stranding ply will penetrate into an adjacent stranding ply during the double-twist stranding. <IMAGE>
