PURPOSE:To obtain a resinous sliding material which has good durability and is easy to handle, by mixing finely divided graphite or carbonaceous aggregate, a short metal fiber and a thermosetting resin binder, molding the mixture and heat-treating the resulting molding. CONSTITUTION:A uniform mixture of finely divided graphite or carbonaceous aggregate, a short metal fiber and a thermosetting resin binder is molded and the resulting molding is heat-treated. Metal fiber having a diameter of 10-40mu and a length of 0.05-0.5mm. is preferred. Examples of such metal fibers are aluminum, brass, bronze and cast iron fibers. Examples of the thermosetting resin binders are phenolic resin, furan resin, epoxy resin, etc. Examples of the aggregates are natural and synthetic graphite powder, carbon black, coke, etc. It is preferred to use 25-40% binder, 40-75% aggregate and 5-20% metal fiber. |
