PURPOSE:To increase a data transfer speed and to use a memory as an extremely large storage device by multiplexing recording signals, and performing multiplex recording and multiplex reading. CONSTITUTION:Signals A and B are modulated according to predetermined logic and a modulated signal having resolution corresponding to a signal level is obtained as the result of the modulation. Signals are recorded on a recording medium 2 by a head 1 on the basis of the modulated signal to form recording pits. This recording information 5 is read out by the optical head 1 and processed by a demodulator 6 reversely according to said logic to obtain the signals A and B.
