PURPOSE:To prevent damage of the end of a plate piece by providing a plate piece transfer apparatus including a plurality grippers for holding the end of a plate piece, wherein at the time of inserting the plate piece in a holding area of a gripper, the plate piece is stopped being inserted before the end of the plate piece is brought into contact with a collision surface of the gripper. CONSTITUTION:With a plate material W placed on rollers 9 and temporarily fixed by a lock device, an unloader 1 is transferred from the left. When the end of a plate piece W starts advancing into a plurality of grippers G arranged side by side along the lateral direction of the plate piece W and one of operation rods 32 of limit switches LS disposed on the respective grippers G is collided with the end of the plate piece W to turn off the limit switch LS, the above transferring is stopped. In such a condition, a cylinder 24 is expanded to lower a gripper 23, thereby to hold the end of the plate piece W, and then the unloader 1 is transferred to the left. Thus, the plate piece W is transferred on the rollers 9 to a desired position. |
