PURPOSE:To descale effectively the surface of stainless steel after annealing by treating the steel in a molten salt bath contg. NaOH and an active oxidizing agent before pickling. CONSTITUTION:A cold rolled steel sheet of stainless steel is annealed, and scale formed on the surfaces is dissolved and removed by pickling. At this time, the steel sheet is passed through a molten salt consisting of 50-70% NaOH, 20- 40% NaNO3 as an active oxidizing agent and 5-15% NaCl as a m.p. dropping agent, and the steel sheet is treated with a conventional pickling soln. The scale on the surfaces of the steel sheet can be easily removed. |
