In a threshing machine the dressing assembly is pivotally mounted about the axis of the threshing drum so as to be self-levelling in a direction parallel to the direction of motion of the crop. The invention is shown applied to a maizeharvester having downwardly and forwardly extending crop-gatherers 1, 2 which house snapping rollers 3, 4 and endlesschain scoops 5 for conveying the snapped cobs rearwardly to an auger 7 which feeds them into the threshing chamber 8. The concave comprises parallel fins 20 extending cantilever-fashion from a cross-member 81 of the chamber, the outer ends of the fins being capable of flexure under violent impact until they strike a lip 82 of the chamber. Counter-beaters 26 are mounted to extend longitudinally of the chamber. The axle 19 of the drum 18 is extended beyond the chamber at both ends and mounts a pair of roughly triangular plates 37 which carry between them a straw-rack 10, and underlying sieve 22<1>, a grain-pan 11 and a winnowing fan 9. This entire assembly is freely swingable with the plates 37 which are balanced by an adjustable weight 39. The fan-rotor 29 is driven by a belt 47 from the shaft 19 which also drives an eccentric 36 oscillating rocking levers 31, 32 interconnecting the pan 11 and the sieves 22, 22<1> which are thereby oscillated out-of-phase. Winnowed grain falls on to a shoot 12 feeding, via augers 13, 15, into a hopper (not shown) and chaff is discharged on to the ground over the end 30 of the rack 10. The device is fully mounted on a tractor through lugs 17 and is driven by the tractor power take-off.</p> |
