摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain a bright high-quality image having a high resolution by making each deflecting electrode by forming an electrode film the width of which varies in accordance with the warp of the electrode on a base plate by vacuum vapordeposition. CONSTITUTION:Vertical deflection base plates 9a-9c have warps because they are prepared from glass plates. On each of the concave surfaces of the plates 9a-9c, an electrode film the width of which is the narrowest at its center and widens toward the ends is formed by performing vapordeposition of gold. On each of the convex surfaces of the base plates 9a-9c, an electrode film the width of which is the widest at its center and narrows toward the ends is formed by performing vapordeposition of gold. The upper side of an image (E) formed on a phosphor 16 is almost linear and the deflection sensitivity of the upper side increases toward its center. The lower side of the image (E) is almost linear and the deflection sensitivity of the lower side decreases toward its center. Therefore the border between the images (E) and (F) formed through deflection performed by the deflecting electrodes 9a-9c has a linear form. Besides, no dark areas develop in the border. Consequently no nonuniformity of the luminance occurs in the border.
