The bevelled ends to be joined of synthetic resin belt sections 3, 4 are prepared for welding by wetting the inclined end faces with a solvent for the synthetic resin material of the belts and protecting each wetted end with a sheath 5, 6 until immediately prior to welding by heat and pressure. The belt may be formed of polyamide and the solvent may be an alcohol, resorcin and polyamide resin solution. The protective sheath may be of polyethylene or polyvinyl chloride. |
