PURPOSE:To provide the titled medium capable of efficiently clean a thermal head, wherein a thermal head cleaning means is provided at a part of the lower side of a base, and a thermally transferrable coloring material layer is provided on the upper side of the base over the entire area exclusive of a specified part. CONSTITUTION:The thermal head cleaning means such as a layer comprising a thermoplastic substance is provided at a part of the lower side of the base such as a polyethylene terephthalate film. A coating liquid for forming a coloring material layer comprising a coloring agent such as carnauba wax and carbon black is applied to the upper side of the base over the entire area exclusive of the part corresponding to the part provided with the cleaning means, thereby providing the thermally transferrable coloring material layer to obtain the objective recording medium.
