PURPOSE:To obtain a thermally sprayed film having excellent resistance to wear and seizure by penetrating the pitch melted by heating into the film of a thermally sprayed coating layer then calcining the layer by heating and impregnating carbon into the pores of the thermally sprayed film. CONSTITUTION:The thermally sprayed ceramic film formed by a gas or arc spraying method, etc. is dipped for 1-120min into the melt bath of the pitch melted by heating to the temp. above the softening point. A member to be impregnated is preferably preheated to about the same temp. as the heating temp. of the pitch and is subjected to the above-mentioned dipping treatment under the reduced pressure. The thermally sprayed film impregnated with the pitch is calcined in a temp. range of 300-1,200 deg.C in an inert or reducing gas of gaseous N2, gaseous H2 or gaseous Ar alone or the mixture composed thereof. The intended thermally sprayed film incorporated with carbon in the sprayed film is thus obtd. The operation of repeating the penetration treatment of the pitch and the heating treatment may be performed again after the heating and calcination treatment in order to increase much more the carbon-content to remain in the thermally sprayed film. |
