PURPOSE:To measure accurately and simply activity of a saccharide or an enzyme such as glycosidase to liberate a saccharide, by using a novel maltose dehydrogenase prepared from a strain belonging to the genus Staphylococcus. CONSTITUTION:An enzyme acting on reduction end of monosaccharide or oligosaccharide, catalyzing a reaction shown by the formula (R is saccharide chain residue or H, A is hydrogen acceptor except NAD or NADP, AH or AHn is reductive acceptor, n is 1-2) without using NAD (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) or NADP (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate). The enzyme is obtained by cultivating Staphylococcus SP.B-0875. The enzyme is usable for determination of glycose, maltose, etc. in a liquid test specimen such as serum, urine, etc. or measurement of enzymatic activity of alpha-amylase, beta-amylase, etc. |
