PURPOSE:To obtain a large amt. of flakes having a relatively large thickness and approximately uniform thickness by providing freely rotatably cutters for flakes having cutting edges on the surfaces to the top of a feed roll which feeds continuously a metallic sheet. CONSTITUTION:A cutter 6 for flakes has alternately cutting edges 7 of a small width and notches 8 of a small width on the surface of a circular columnar cutter in the rotating direction thereof and has also alternately similar cutting edges 7 and notches 8 on surface in the shaft 9 direction. The cutters 6 are rotated in an arrow direction and while a metallic sheet 1 such as an Al material is un-coiled, the metallic sheet is passed between rolls 4 and 4 and is fed to the cutters 6 so that the sheet 1 is continuously cut by the cutters 6.
