PURPOSE:To promote the decomposition of the sludge by microorganisms, and to treat efficiently the sludge by adding the juice pressed out from yucca to the organic sludge, and decomposing biologically the sludge in an aerobic atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:A suitable amt. of the juice pressed out from yucca, a plant of Liliaceae, is added to the sludge to be treated to irritate the microorganisms in the sludge, to enhance the vitality of the microorganisms, and to hasten the breeding. Consequently, the decomposition of the sludge is promoted from the standpoint of quantity and time, and the treatment of the sludge is efficiently carried out. A specific alkaloidal compd. is contained in the juice pressed out from yucca at a high concn., and the alkaloidal compd. acts on the microorganisms to promote the decomposition of the sludge by the microorganisms. The original liquid (pressed out from yucca) is added to the sludge in 0.1 ratio of the liquid to the sludge.
