For mixing at least two flowable reaction components (A, B), especially for the intermittent production of mouldings, for example from polyurethane, the invention provides for the two-stage or multi-stage mixing of the material stream in a mixing head (10) during the reaction of said material stream. The mixing chamber (14) of the mixing head has at least three partial sections (14a, b, c), which are connected especially by overflow channels (48, 50). These have different lengths and/or cross-sections in order to delay at least one material partial stream with respect to the other or others. To this end, channels, pockets (36, 40) or the like can also be provided alternatively or additionally before, in and/or after a slide (34), which is a rotary or longitudinal slide with preferably two rigidly coupled slide halves. The inlet nozzles (16, 18) at the start section (14a) of the mixing chamber are separated from one another only by a thin dividing wall (30). Adjustment of the slide from the mixing into the recirculation position accomplishes the mechanical cleaning of the mixing head (10) by means of shape-fitted housing parts and a cleaning push-rod (60). <IMAGE>
