PURPOSE:To enhance the efficiency in the fabrication of a document by an electronic typewriter, by displaying the part succeeding to the rearmost part of a part printed when the printing of data of document moment is interrupted to a display apparatus. CONSTITUTION:When a stop key is pushed down and the input of a printing stop code is present, a CPU sets a printing stop address to a pointer 2a and sets the lowermose inferior figure of a 16-column liquid crystal display apparatus LCD 5. In the next step, in document memory, the data of the address indicated by the pointer 2a is displayed to the column of LCD 5 indicated by the pointer 2b. When display to all columns is completed, the printing of the data of the document memory is finished. When the display to all columns are not still completed, ''1'' is added to the pointer 2a. Subsequently, ''1'' is subtracted from the pointer 2b and, thereafter, display to the column of LCD 5 is performed and a series of operatios for displaying data succeeding to the rearmost part of data printed to all columns of LCD 5 are repeated.
