PURPOSE:To improve the frequency characteristic in the high band region of a reproducing characteristic and to enable production of a recording medium in short time by forming the 2nd magnetic layer by plating on the 1st magnetic layer coated atop a base. CONSTITUTION:A Pd catalyst layer is formed on the coated Co-gammaFe2O3 magnetic layer coated on a base (PET, etc.) and a Co-P magnetic layer (2nd magnetic layer) is formed on the 1st magnetic layer by dipping the same into a plating soln. contg. cobalt chloride, sodium hydrophosphite, sodium citrate, ammonium chloride and boric acid. The frequency characteristic in the high band part of the reproducing characteristic is thus improved. The recording medium is formed by 1-2min of dipping.
